How SABMiller improved its SAP project delivery
SABMiller is a global beer and soft drinks producer. It is the world’s second largest brewer and has more than 70,000 employees in over 80 countries. More than 140,000 bottles of SABMiller beer are sold every minute of every day.
Find out how SABMiller deployed SAP to 15 countries with 10-15 SAP environments for each release, managing to deliver a new SAP environment per day for each release in order to increase roll out speed.
SABMiller plc was a multinational brewing and beverage company headquartered in England until October 2016 when it was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Prior to that date, it was the world's second-largest brewer measured by revenues (after Anheuser-Busch InBev) and was also a major bottler of Coca-Cola. Its brands included Fosters, Miller, and Pilsner Urquell. It operated in 80 countries worldwide and in 2009 sold around 21 billion liters of beverages. Since 10 October 2016, SABMiller has been a business division of Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV, a Belgian corporation with headquarters in Leuven.
In order to complete business-critical SAP projects quickly, SABMiller needed the ability to test on production-like data for testing confidence and accuracy.
SABMiller's SAP system copies were taking too long to run - with the BDLS step alone taking over 5 days to complete. The time taken to provision SAP test environments was having a knock-on effect on SAP project delivery.
SABMiller needed a solution to solve slow-running BDLS - one that could be implemented quickly and didn't require additional costly hardware. A full system copy solution was required as tools like TDMS was not capable of producing suitable test environments.
Basis Technologies provided SystemCopyGT - the simple add-on solution for SAP that speeds up BDLS performance to run in a fraction of its normal time.
SystemCopyGT has dramatically improved the time it takes SABMiller to run a full system copy. What had previously taken over 5 days to run now completes in 12 hours - saving more than 100 hours of wait-time with each system copy.
The SAP team and the business now benefit from greater testing confidence - with regular access to production-like data and SAP environments provisioned 5 times faster than before - resulting in on-time SAP project delivery.
